Bike book - 'It's All About the Bike' by Robert Penn

The good staff at my local library was thoughtful enough to put a copy of this book on the new book stand near the library's entrance. I certainly feel like talking about bikes after reading it. Simple, concise tale about one man's love affair w/ bikes and the chronicle of his quest to assemble his new dreambike. Plenty of fodder here for advocacy concerns as he weaves the historical nuances associated with the evolution of the bicycle througout.

Awesome! It's been a hard year(s) for libraries to purchase books or other items for our collections. Wondering how checking out bikes at your local library would work. Would Tern be interested in collaborating with librarians on a project of this sort?

Slightly related - looking forward to the SXcycles -> is there someone there who would like to hang out with a group of library advocates about bikes+libraries+lending? We have some fun meetups in the works off by the AT&T campus = we'll be needing these bikes to get over there ;) Check out #sxswLAM (libraries+museums+archives) for more info.

Thanks!

Sounds interesting but the small Tern crew there is going to be flat out just getting all the bikes prepped out and lent out to people. To be honest, I’m not sure how library lending would work logistically with bikes. Bikes need to be serviced and cared for, and that’s best done by a professional bike dealer. But if you have any specific ideas, we’d be happy to listen.

...I just read It's All About the Bike...

...then I read It's Not About the Bike by Lance Armstrong, Sally Jenkins...

...then I watched the classic Bicycle Thieves, also known as The Bicycle Thief,  (1948 Italian neorealist film)...

...then I received my shiny new Orange and White Verge X10 in the mail...

...then I rode my shiny new Orange and White Verge X10...

...in the rain...

...my Dream Bike quest is over...

...it's the Orange and White X10...

...All's right with the world...

...Thanks Tern!
