Tern needs to market marine model!!

I have sold hundreds of Dahon Mariner's and we have transitioned our store to sell Tern's.  Our customers will want a model that is marketed towards their segment.  I understand that all Tern's have  Aluminium frames etc... but consumers what to be assure that their bike is the most rust resistant on the market.  Please consider taking an exsisting model and add a rust resistant chain and cassette and rename it the "Port Jumper" or something like that.  Thank you, Ryan.

I agree that some models should have an extra measure of corrosion resistance. BIkes intended to be carried on boats should be included (obviously), as well as those bikes designed for use as all-season commuters in urban areas. Many of the parts I've had go to rust on my two Dahons are not actually Dahon parts, but proprietary sub-assemblies made by reputable manufacturers (eg, Shimano). I suspect that these manufacturers would be capable of making some of the susceptible parts out of stainless steel for prices that wouldn't be extravagant.

Just a suggestion! ;-)

Hey Ryan – Thanks for the feedback. And thanks for the support as well.

As you said, our bikes are already very corrosion resistant. We’ve used aluminum or stainless in just about every place that we can – joint hardware, pivot bolts, spokes, mounting bolts, etc. Even the bushing on our Syntace seat clamp is stainless steel! We have corrosion resistant chains on Premium level bikes with internal hub gears.

We’re trying really hard to avoid model creep but we hear you. In the meantime, you might consider doing some custom upgrading for your customers.

I hear you Josh.

I can sell those features but customers believe in a name or the fact that the manufacturer says its anti-rust or corrosive!!  You guys are doing a great job with marketing, designs etc...  Rather than the focus on the "Mariner", maybe focus on the rust or corrosion issue in a name.  Example "Rustbuster" or the "Anti-Rust"  Ill leave the marketing  to you guys :)  Capitalize on the features that your bikes have and all the thought you put into making it anti-corrosive etc...  Bring us a Black suspension seatpost please.

Anyway great job.  We are gonna sell the heck out of your bikes!!  best of luck.

Hi Ryan,

Thanks! We should have a BioLogic suspension post available as an AM accessory. Its not on any bikes but it should be in stock. Try and convince Steve to bring some in.

Is that me or Steve Boyd? wink

I'd agree that a suspension seatpost would be a nice thing... of course, I'm a parallelogram-link (read "ThudBuster") enthusiast.
