Do they roll while folded?

I haven't seen this explicitly anywhere, sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.

I'm interested in a Link P7i or D7i for my multi-modal commute, and was wondering if they can roll while folded. From the pictures, it looks as if it could, but doesn't necessarily look as if it's intended to.

well somewhere on my facebook account is a picture of the new rear rack ....and the holder which mounts to the bolt holes situated on the lower part of the downtube .... the holder holds the seatpost, the rack has wheels on the side... you take the seat of the bike, fold it, attach the seatpost to the holder and off you go.

by far the very best in rolling/pulling a bike ....

Terns seem to be vaguely similar in form factor and general method of fold to (another brand) and should roll-while-folded in a similar fashion:

As you can see, this is easily done and does not require the removal or disassembly/reassembly of any components.

Best,

Alex

thanks for the youtube links

of course Terns will roll like that or even a little better ( due to the reversed front wheel)

but it still needs a little bit of ballance and finesse to do that ....same as every other brand which rolls on a narrow plattform.

The Rolling carrier and seatpost attachment which I saw ( as a prototype I am sure ) offers almost infinite adjustment of the seat as a grab handle , and a complete stable pull behind bike, which doesnt wiggle or wobble even if the terrain is not the very best.

We’ve wanted to improve rolling functionality for a while now. This has been the pet project of our lead designer. What we’ve developed is something called the Trolley Rack, which converts your bike so that it rolls like a suitcase. It’s pretty cool. It’ll fit all Link bikes except the C7. We’ve got a few pics here.

that's cool! I want one! where can I ?

way back I had a pet project to build something for rolling, although I focused on rolling on the 20" wheels. but this is great.

I still ride a Dahon (next will surely be a Tern) - will that fit a Dahon? is it a rear rack?

hi Durior,

Yes, that is a special rear rack. But it also has a piece that bolts onto the frame to hold the seat post.

This Trolley rack only fits the Link bikes right now. It’s a pretty precise fit. Of course, we’ll be looking to extend this as an option to all of our bikes.

This solution is by far the best solution we tested for rolling a bike. We’re pretty happy with it.

yeah, after taking a second glance, I was wondering "and how does the seatpost get to that angle"...

Thanks, Josh!

Hello Josh,

are you going to introduce Trolley Rack for Eclipse also?
Additionally - any schedule for introduction child seat (real or front?), may be in combination with Trolley Rack?

Regards,
Alexander

Consul – yes, a Trolley rack for all models is intended but not in 2012. Child seat – great idea and definitely something we are thinking about. But it has to be done right.

child seat, if possible, should also come with a bi-pod kickstand, IMHO
