Any suggestions for a better and more resistant tires for my Link D8??

Hi! my Link D8 uses Schwalbe tires (Citizen HS 416 model) , but I would like to change it for a better one that offers very good resistance to punctures off road and to foreign bodies, such as glass shards, or flints. I´ll never use my folding bike as a MTB (I'm not crazy!!), I just want to prevent any other puncture (like yesterday...pfff) using a more resistant tire...can you recommend me a Schwalbe model or any other brand??

thanks!!

Hola Jaime,

Schwalbe tires are known for their quality and puncture resistance and that’s why they are the #1 bicycle tire brand. But any tire can puncture unless you go really specialized. They have tires like the Marathon Plus, Marathon Supreme (HD guard). But there’s always a compromise. With Marathon Plus, you pay a penalty in weight and rolling resistance. With the top end Marathon Supreme you have good weight and rolling resistance but pay a penalty in cost – those tires are expensive!

Generally speaking, Schwalbe are the best when it comes to puncture resistance. Hope you are otherwise enjoying the bike.

I would echo what Josh said. The marathon plus and marathon Supremes are the best for puncture resistance. I don’t have experience of the Supremes but the marathon plus’ do a very good job of resisting punctures, though, as said they are slightly slower.

My wife uses them on the SpeedproTT on her commute into central London. Used to average a puncture every 3-4 months on Stelvios but since we’ve moved to the marathon plus’ she’s had one puncture in about a year.

The Supremes are newer and have not been available for 20” wheels for very long so you may not find many folders who have used them yet, but if you look for reviews for them on the net (for large wheel bikes) they speak very highly of them. As Josh said these are the top of the line so are more expensive.

I'd stick with the tires that came with the bike and add a Mr. Tuffy tire liner.  My guess is that it was the back tire that you got a puncture in (most commonly), so add a liner there only.  Then you only pay half the weight penalty.
