What is the Clubhouse Fort?
The Clubhouse Fort is a multi-part, weatherproof passenger compartment for Tern cargo e bikes. It's designed to fit up to two kids, either with or without child seats, with a maximum recommended height of 140 cm (plus a bit of extra space for a helmet). If you have a younger child, you will need to use a compatible child seat. If you have a bigger kid, you’ll have to use the Clubhouse Seat Pad and Clubhouse Backrest.
The Clubhouse Fort keeps kids dry, cozy, and content in all kinds of weather. It can be a comfy cockpit, a seat of honor, and maybe even a magical play space that makes biking feel like an adventure for your kids. A clubhouse on wheels, if you will. This is what the setup looks like:

What are the Clubhouse Fort accessories?
The Clubhouse Fort is built with four accessories that are sold separately. Here they are:

1. Clubhouse
The Clubhouse forms the frame of the Clubhouse Fort and is necessary to install the roof and Storm Box. Which Clubhouse you should use will depend on your bike, which you can see in this chart. The Clubhouse has room for up to two compatible child seats, making it easy to bring your little co-pilots along for the ride.

2. Stow Decks or Sidekick Wide Decks
Depending on your Tern bike, the Stow Decks or Sidekick Wide Decks form the base of the Clubhouse Fort and provide foot support. They are required to install the Storm Box.

3. Storm Box
The Storm Box is a massive, durable yet flexible container that helps keep kids safe from nasty weather. It comes with a water-resistant Kid Lid that fits snugly around little riders, which is a bit like a kayak's spray skirt.
The Storm Box was designed with kid-carrying in mind. It's also effective at catching all the toys, clothes, and other items that may fall from little hands while riding—just scoop your kids' missing mittens out of the bottom of the Storm Box.
But the Storm Box isn't just for transporting your kids. When you're not carrying them, you can load the Storm Box up with a whopping 160 L of cargo.

4. Storm Shield or Sun Shield & Rain Shield
The Clubhouse Fort has two roof options: The Storm Shield and the Sun & Rain Shield.
What is the Storm Shield?
The Storm Shield is like a cozy bubble for your little passengers that keeps them dry in the rain, protected from chilly winds, and shaded from the harsh sun. It requires the Clubhouse for installation—as mentioned above, make sure you have the right generation for your bike platform.
Made from waterproof nylon, it shrugs off the rain while a rear ventilation panel keeps fresh air flowing. Big, clear side panels mean kids can still enjoy the view, and the sturdy fiberglass tent pole structure holds its shape, even when the wind picks up. Whatever the weather, the Storm Shield has your back (and theirs).
What is the Sun Shield & Rain Shield?
The Sun Shield is a lightweight, UPF50-rated canopy that keeps your little passengers cool and shaded on sunny rides. It blocks harsh UV rays while allowing plenty of airflow, making it a must-have for warm, sunny climates. Plus, it’s compatible with all Clubhouse generations—no guesswork needed!
If you’re caught in an unexpected downpour, just snap the Rain Shield over the Sun Shield, and voilà—you’ve got a rain-ready canopy to keep the ride going. And when the sun’s back out, the Rain Shield folds down to the size of a rain poncho, so you can stash it in a pannier until you need it again.
Should I get the Clubhouse Fort?
If you frequently ride with young passengers and want to keep them comfortable in any weather, then the Clubhouse Fort is a great investment.
It provides a secure, season-proof space for up to two kids, keeping them dry on rainy days and shaded from the sun. With two roof options—the fully enclosed Storm Shield or the modular Sun/Rain Shield—you can tailor the setup to your climate and needs.
If you live in an area with unpredictable weather or need a reliable setup for year-round family biking, the Clubhouse Fort is a smart choice.
