The Art of Folding

How to Fold the Tern Link B7, C3i, C7 & C7i

This article refers to Link B7, C3i, C7 and C7i (Q-Lock™ Handlepost) bikes

Watch

The Tern fold is simple and elegant. With a little bit of practice, it will feel like second nature, or, if you prefer, as intuitive as riding a bicycle.

Folding Your Bike

1
Rotate Cranks so that the Left Crank extends downward
2
Drop Seatpost down, and rotate Saddle 45° to the left
3
Drop Telescopic Handlepost all the way down, and then raise it slightly
4
Open Handlepost Joint
5
Fold Handlepost down
6
Open Frame Joint
7
Fold bike in half

Tips

For a more compact folded package, fold your Pedals before Step #2.

You can get a smaller folded package by positioning the Brake Levers upright, before Step #2, so that the Brake Levers point upwards.

Unfolding Your Bike

1
Unfold your bike
2
Close and lock Frame Joint
3
Raise Handlepost
4
Lock Handlepost in place
5
Raise Telescopic Stem
6
Raise Seatpost, and straighten Saddle
7
Check that your bike is ready to ride using the ABC Quick Drop test

Tips

Your Seatpost has minimum and maximum insertion point markings. For safety reasons, make sure your Seatpost is inserted within this range.

Be sure not to lift your Telescopic Stem beyond the minimum insertion point.
