Tern Bike Maintenance Schedule
IMPORTANT!
All bikes go through a normal break-in period. That’s why we recommend all our riders get a quick tune-up one month after purchase so that the dealer can adjust cables and other key parts.
E-Bike Maintenance Schedule
Your e-bike needs regular tune-ups by an Authorized Tern Dealer. Always follow your dealer’s maintenance recommendations. If you’re not sure when to take your bike in for service, here are some guidelines:
One month or 200 km (~125 mi) after purchase
“Wearing in” service check: E-bike cables and brakes take a bit of time to wear in. At this service check, the mechanic can adjust brakes, tune shifting, check for motor system software updates, and make any other necessary adjustments.
Every six months or 1000 km (~620 mi) after that
Regular interval service checks: Take your e-bike in for professional maintenance at regular intervals. The mechanic will evaluate your e-bike’s condition, tune up your bike, replace any worn parts, check for motor system software updates, and make any other necessary adjustments.
Whenever the Bosch system display shows the service indicator
Your dealer may also use your e-bike’s onboard computer to set customized service intervals based on local riding conditions. When the service indicator appears on your display, it’s time for a service check

Note for Cargo Bike Riders
When determining your maintenance schedule, consider your hauling habits. If you often carry a passenger or heavy loads, you may need to take your bike in for a maintenance check sooner than expected.
Note for Off-Road Riders
Venturing into more demanding terrain places additional strain on your bike. To ensure it remains capable of tackling rugged conditions, we advise scheduling more frequent maintenance check-ups, particularly before embarking on off-road adventures.
