Fitting a Tern Link into the AirPorter Mini

Follow these steps to fit Link C8, D16, D7i, D8, N8, P24h, P7i, P9, and Uno into the AirPorter Mini. Note that while the disassembled Cargo Rack fits in the AirPorter Mini, not all racks are guaranteed to fit.

Tools required

* 2 mm Hex Key

* 4 mm Hex Key

* 5 mm Hex Key

* 15 mm Crescent Wrench

 

Parts Inside the AirPorter Mini

1. Hub axle discs (only needed for disc brakes and QR)

2. Front Drop Out holder

3. Rear Drop Out holder

4. Chainring protector

5. Pedal bag

6. First pad

7. Second pad

 

Step 1: Remove the Pedals using 15 mm crescent wrench and place into the pedal bag.

[Note, steps 2 and step 3 only apply to bikes with a rear rack and a dynamo powered rear light, including the Link D7i, P24h, and P7i]

Step 2: Unplug the Dynamo Cable Wire from the Rear Dynamo Light and uninstall the Wire. Remove and place the Connector inside the pedal bag for safe keeping.

Step 3: Pull the Wire out from the Rear Rack (if applicable). Remove Rear Rack.

Step 4: Open the Seatpost Clamp Quick Release, remove the Seatpost and place aside.

Step 5: Remove the Brake Noodle from the Brake Cable Holder on both Front and Rear Wheel. Remove the Mudguards and/or Front Dynamo Hub Cable Connector (if any) and place to one side.

Step 6a: For Link P7i, D7i, C8 and Uno which come with Hub Axle Nuts, loosen both Hub Axle Nuts with 15mm Crescent Wrench and remove Wheels.

Step 6b: For Link P24h, P9, D16, D8 and N8 which come with Quick Release Skewers, remove both wheels by undoing the Quick Releases, then unscrew the Quick Release Acorn, and slide out the Quick Release Skewers.

Step 7: Insert the drop out holders to the Front and Rear Dropouts.

Step 8: Attach the chainring protector to the Chainring.

Step 9: For Link D16, D7i, D8, P24h, and P7i which come with Andros Stem, fold the Andros Stem up. Rotate the Handlebars down so that the Brake Levers face the base of the Handlepost.

Step 10: Remove the Handlepost by loosening the Steerer Clamp Bolts and Top Cap Bolt, then reattach the Top Cap.

Step 11: Lay the AirPorter Mini down flat, open up the cover and lay the buckles on the outside, then place the Rear Wheel in the bottom right corner.

Step 12: Place the First Pad over the Rear Wheel.

Step 13: Fold the Frame. Place the folded Frame on top of the First Pad, crank-side down with the Rear Wheel Drop Outs on the left-hand side, Cranks at the bottom and Joint on the right-hand side of the AirPorter Mini. 

Wrap the rear Frame Half with the First Pad. Place the Fenders on the left-hand side and lay the Handlepost in between the Seat Stays and Chain Stays.

Slide the Seatpost into the First Pad between the Rear Chain Stays, ensuring that the Seatpost and Frame are protected by sufficient padding.

Step 14: Place the Second Pad over the folded Frame. Place the Front Wheel on top of the Second Pad, then clasp the buckles shut and cinch tightly. If the bike is equipped with a Rear Rack, disassemble the rack and put it together with the Front Wheel.

Put the other small parts (washers, bolts and nuts, rear light connector) into the pedal bag. Then put the pedal bag into the zipper pockets on the inside of the AirPorter cover.

Close the AirPorter and zip it closed. Secure the zippers in the zipper lock.
