    In the US, the e-bike class system rates the Vektron as a Class 1 e-bike. This means it provides pedal assist only up to 20 mph and does not have a throttle.

    The Vektron can go up to 25 km/h in countries that follow the EU standard, and up to 32 km/h (20 mph) in the US as a Class 1 e-bike.
     

  3. What’s the range of Tern Vektron? 

    The Vektron’s range depends on the model and battery it comes with. For example, the Vektron P5i with Bosch eBike System 2 and a 500 Wh battery has a max range of 141 km (88 mi), while the P5i with Bosch Smart System and a 545 Wh battery has a max range of 120 km (75 mi).

Portability & storage

  1. Is the Tern Vektron folding electric bike heavy?

    The Vektron weighs about 20 kg (44 lb) without the battery, so it’s light enough to carry for short distances.
     

  2. How much does the Tern Vektron's battery weigh?

    The Vektron’s Bosch PowerPack Frame battery weighs between 2.3 and 3 kg (about 5 to 6.6 lb), depending on the size.
     

  3. Can a folded Tern Vektron fit in a regular car trunk?

    Yes! When folded, the Vektron is small enough to fit in a regular car trunk—and in most sedans, you can even fit two folded Vektrons side by side!
     

  4. Can you bring a folded Tern Vektron on an airplane?

    A folded Vektron might be boxed up and accepted as checked baggage, but it depends on the airline, so check before you travel. However, the bike’s lithium battery must be removed, since batteries rated over 160 Wh are not permitted on passenger aircraft, either in carry-on or checked baggage. You can buy, or in some cases rent, a battery at your destination.
     

  5. Can you bring Tern Vektron onto public transport?

    Most public transport allows you to bring the Vektron, but it’s a good idea to check with the operator first. For example, some may require you to purchase a bike ticket or make a reservation first. 
     

  6. Can a folded Tern Vektron stand on its own without support?

    Yes! When folded, the Vektron can stand on its own—either upright on the rear rack ends or lengthwise against the Underframe Support.

Accessorizing & loading up

  1. Which third-party accessory mounting systems is the Tern Vektron compatible with?

    The Vektron works with several common accessory mounting systems, such as KLICKfix, Racktime SNAPIT 2.0, and Ortlieb Quick-Lock 2.1 and 2.2.

  2. Can you put a child seat on Tern Vektron?

    The Vektron can fit one clamp-style, rear-rack mounted child seat like Thule Yepp 2 Maxi, Bobike Go Maxi, and Urban Iki (carrier mounting). If you’re carrying a young child in a child seat, make sure to stay within the load limit and follow the safety guidelines.
     

  3. Where can you mount accessories on Tern Vektron?

    You can attach accessories to the Vektron’s rear rack. To add accessories to the front, you’ll need to install the Luggage Truss onto the Luggage Socket at the head tube.

    The Vektron’s Atlas V Rear Rack is rated to 27 kg (60 lb).
     

  5. What’s the weight limit on a Tern Vektron?

    The maximum gross vehicle weight (MGVW) is the most weight your bike is designed to safely carry. For the Vektron, that limit is 125 kg (276 lb). This total includes the bike (with battery), the rider, any accessories, and any cargo. Make sure everything together stays under this limit for safe riding.
     

  6. What is the Tern Vektron's rear rack specification?

  7. Can you install front accessories on Tern Vektron?

  1. How often do I need to service my Tern Vektron?

    We recommend bringing your Vektron to an authorized Tern dealer:

    • 1 month or 200 km (125 mi) after purchase,
    • Then every 6 months or 1,000 km (620 mi) after that,
    • Or anytime the Bosch system shows a service warning

  1. Where can I buy a Tern Vektron?

  2. What is Tern Vektron’s intended use?

    The Vektron is designed for individual personal use: riding with both wheels in contact with paved roads only. It is not intended for racing, jumps, hops, wheelies, or similar activities.

  3. Does Tern Vektron come with any warranty?

    Yes, the Vektron comes with a warranty:

    • 5 years for the Tern frame, fork, and handlepost
    • 1 year for all Tern or BioLogic parts and components
    • Other parts are covered by the original manufacturer’s warranty

    If you register for Tern Care within 30 days of purchase, your Tern frame, fork, and handlepost warranty is extended from 5 years to 10 years.

    It can! The Tern Warranty Transfer lets a current bike owner transfer any remaining warranty to a new buyer.
