Tern Warranty Transfer: Seller’s Guide
Ready to transfer your warranty? This guide walks you through everything you need, from the documents to gather to the steps for submitting your transfer.
Seller Checklist
Gather the following information and documents before starting your warranty transfer.
Note on Bike Registration: If you registered your bike and created a Tern account, your Service Tag Number will be filled in automatically.
- Seller and Buyer Details: Full name and working email address for both the seller and buyer.
- Bike Model: Example: GSD S10
- Service Tag Number: 8-character alphanumeric code starting with the letter “T.” Find it under the QR code sticker near the down tube or bottom bracket. Where is my service tag number?
- Original Purchase Receipt: Must include purchase date. Accepted formats include a digital invoice, receipt photo, or order confirmation.
- Bike Tune-Up Checklist: Must be completed by an authorized Tern dealer within 30 days of the sale. You may be charged for the tune-up. Download checklist
- Bosch Diagnostics Report (for Bosch-equipped bikes): Must be completed by a Bosch-certified dealer or service provider within 30 days of the sale. You may be charged for the Report.
Note: Each uploaded document must be a single file under 100 MB.
Accepted file types: PNG, JPG, JPEG, or PDF.
Warranty Transfer Process
Once you’ve gathered the required documents, follow these steps
Check Your Registration Status
You'll need the email you used to register for Tern Care with, and your bike's Service Tag Number.
Complete the Online Form
Enter the required details and upload the documents. Submit the form.
Application Review
Tern will review your submission within 3–5 business days. If your application does not satisfy the requirements or is incomplete, we’ll contact you to amend it.
If your application is approved, both you and the buyer will receive confirmation by email. The buyer will then complete the registration to finalize the transfer.
